    Get PDF
To a large degree information and services for chemical e-Science have become accessible -anytime, anywhere -but not necessarily useful. The Rule Responder eScience middleware is about providing information consumers with rule-based agents to transform existing information into relevant information of practical consequences, hence providing control to the end-users to express in a declarative rule-based way how to turn existing information into personally relevant information and how to react or make automated decisions on top of it

Modeling and estimation techniques for understanding heterogeneous traffic behavior

The majority of current internet traffic is based on TCP. With the emergence of new applications, especially new multimedia applications, however, UDP-based traffic is expected to increase. Furthermore, multimedia applications have sparkled the development of protocols responding to congestion while behaving differently from TCP. As a result, network traffc is expected to become more and more diverse. The increasing link capacity further stimulates new applications utilizing higher bandwidths of future. Besides the traffic diversity, the network is also evolving around new technologies. These trends in the Internet motivate our research work. In this dissertation, modeling and estimation techniques of heterogeneous traffic at a router are presented. The idea of the presented techniques is that if the observed queue length and packet drop probability do not match the predictions from a model of responsive (TCP) traffic, then the error must come from non-responsive traffic; it can then be used for estimating the proportion of non-responsive traffic. The proposed scheme is based on the queue length history, packet drop history, expected TCP and queue dynamics. The effectiveness of the proposed techniques over a wide range of traffic scenarios is corroborated using NS-2 based simulations. Possible applications based on the estimation technique are discussed. The implementation of the estimation technique in the Linux kernel is presented in order to validate our estimation technique in a realistic network environment

Process Makna - A Semantic Wiki for Scientific Workflows

    Get PDF
Virtual e-Science infrastructures supporting Web-based scientific workflows are an example for knowledge-intensive collaborative and weakly-structured processes where the interaction with the human scientists during process execution plays a central role. In this paper we propose the lightweight dynamic user-friendly interaction with humans during execution of scientific workflows via the low-barrier approach of Semantic Wikis as an intuitive interface for non-technical scientists. Our Process Makna Semantic Wiki system is a novel combination of a business process management system adapted for scientific workflows with a Corporate Semantic Web Wiki user interface supporting knowledge intensive human interaction tasks during scientific workflow execution

From the 20th century to 21st century, the human all knowledge of the class got fast development. And sports biomechanics is one of the disciplines with the fastest developing speed. The elite of the numerous researchers of the set participates in studying in short 30 years, with rigorous scientific attitude initiative application many kinds of theory of discipline they, and the most advanced instrument studied the method, thought deeply and carefully about this discipline at that time, promote the development of sports biomechanics actively. This research course itself whether one method study, it is one that makes development history that people revere

Separation and Identification of HSP-Associated Protein Complexes from Pancreatic Cancer Cell Lines Using 2D CN/SDS-PAGE Coupled with Mass Spectrometry

Protein complexes are a cornerstone of many biological processes and together they form various types of molecular machinery. A broad understanding of these protein complexes is crucial for revealing and building models of protein function and regulation. Pancreatic cancer is a highly lethal disease which is difficult to diagnose at early stage and even more difficult to cure. In this study, we applied a gradient clear native gel system combined with subsequent second-dimensional SDS-PAGE to separate protein complexes from cell lysates of SW1990 and PANC-1 pancreatic cancer cell lines with different degrees of differentiation. Ten heat-shock-protein- (HSP-) associated protein complexes were separated and identified, and the differentially expressed proteins related to cancers were also found, such as HSP60, protein disulfide-isomerase A4 (ERp72), and transitional endoplasmic reticulum ATPase (TER ATPase)

Action Recognition of Human’s Lower Limbs Based on a Human Joint

    Get PDF
In order to recognize the actions of human’s lower limbs, a novel action recognition method based on a human joint was proposed. Firstly, hip joint was chosen as the recognition object, its y coordinates were as recognition parameter, and human action characteristics were achieved based on filtering and wavelet transform. Secondly, an improved self-organizing competitive neural network was proposed, which could classify the action characteristics automatically according to the classification number. The classification results of motion capture data proved the validity of the neural network. Finally,an action recognition method based on hidden Markov model (HMM) was introduced to realize the recognition of classification results of human action characteristicswith the change direction of y coordinates. The proposed action recognition method needs less action information and has a fast calculation speed. Experiments proved the method hada high recognition rate and a good application prospect

Florofangchinoline inhibits proliferation of osteosarcoma cells via targeting of histone H3 lysine 27 trimethylation and AMPK activation

    Get PDF
Purpose: To investigate the effect of florofangchinoline on osteosarcoma cell growth in vitro, and the underlying mechanism of action. Methods: Changes in the viability of KHOS and Saos-2 cells were measured using water soluble tetrazolium salt (WST) assay, while apoptosis was determined using Annexin V/PI staining and flow cytometry. Increases in mtDNA, and expressions of PGC-1α and TFAM were assayed with immunoblot analysis and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), respectively. Results: Microscopic examination of florofangchinoline-treated cells showed significant decrease in cell density, relative to control cells (p < 0.05). Treatment with 10 μM florofangchinoline increased apoptosis in KHOS and Saos-2 cells to 56.32 and 63.75 %, respectively (p < 0.05). Florofangchinoline treatment markedly enhanced cleavage of caspase-3, caspase-8, caspase-9 and PARP. It elevated Bax level and reduced Bcl-2 in KHOS and Saos-2 cells. Moreover, florofangchinoline increased p21 and p-AMPKα levels, and mtDNA counts in KHOS and Saos-2 cells (p < 0.05). Moreover, in florofangchinoline-treated KHOS cells, the expressions of EED, EZH2 and SUZ12 were significantly suppressed (p < 0.05).Conclusion: Florofangchinoline inhibits osteosarcoma cell viability by activation of apoptosis. Moreover, it activates AMPK and down-regulates  histone H3 lysine 27 trimethylation in osteosarcoma cells. Therefore, florofangchinoline has potentials for development as a therapeutic drug forosteosarcoma. Keywords: Osteosarcoma, Histone H3, Florofangchinoline, Apoptosis, Chemotherapeuti
